FAQs

Getting Started with Your Claim

Is this service too good to be true? What’s the catch?

There really isn’t one. Motor Claims Line manages your entire claim from the moment you report the accident until you receive your final payout. The financial and legal responsibility remains entirely with the at-fault insurer, and we handle all communication with them directly on your behalf.

Do I still need to contact my own insurer?

Motor Claims Line is independent and is not your insurer. For eligible non-fault accident claims,
you can choose to use our service instead of making the claim through your own insurer. We can manage the claim
process, arrange recovery, repairs and a replacement vehicle where suitable, and deal with the relevant insurers on your behalf, subject to your agreement and the Terms and Conditions.

Will you contact my insurance provider?

No. After you report the incident to us, you should still notify your own insurer for their records. This keeps all parties up to date with accurate information.

How is Motor Claims Line different from my insurer?

Motor Claims Line is a specialist claims management company. We do not sell or replace car insurance — we only assist with accident claims after they occur.

Will I really have zero excess to pay?

Yes — if the accident was not your fault. The at-fault insurer covers all reasonable costs, including any repair excess that would normally apply. You pay nothing out of pocket when we handle the claim.

Does just calling you for advice affect my insurance?

No, not at all. Simply speaking to us for advice or guidance has no impact on your insurance policy or no-claims discount. We only proceed with a claim if you choose to.

Costs, Insurance & Liability

Are there any hidden fees or extra charges?

We are fully transparent, so there are no hidden fees or surprise charges. We don’t add any extra costs if you are at fault.

The only time charges would apply is if the claim is found to be fraudulent (such as a staged accident). In that case, you would be responsible for all hire vehicle costs.

Will using Motor Claims Line impact my insurance policy?

No, it will not.

If the accident was not your fault, you pay no excess and we protect your no-claims discount.

Any effect on your premium should be much smaller than if your insurer handled the claim themselves.

What happens if the accident was my fault?

You should contact your insurer to report the claim and obtain a reference number, which you can then pass to your Motor Claims Line approved repairer.

We will assess the damage and obtain the necessary authorisation from your insurer.

Who covers all the costs of my claim?

All costs are covered by the at-fault insurance company. This includes recovery, repairs, and a suitable replacement vehicle — it is their legal obligation to pay reasonable expenses.

What happens to my car if it’s written off?

We negotiate with the at-fault insurer on your behalf.

If your vehicle is written off, we use professional valuation tools to secure a fair market value. Once agreed, the money is paid directly to you.

You are responsible for clearing any outstanding finance. We will let you keep the replacement vehicle for seven days after receiving the payout to give you time to find a new car.

What if the other side disputes who was at fault?

Sometimes the insurers dispute responsibility after reviewing the evidence.

If this happens, we will work with you to clarify the facts. You will need to provide all relevant documents and evidence so we can establish liability with the other party.

If an agreement cannot be reached, you may need to claim through your own insurance policy.

Will my No-Claims Discount be affected?

If you are not at fault and your insurer does not pay any costs, your no-claims bonus will remain unaffected.

How do you keep my insurance record "squeaky clean"?

By handling the claim directly with the at-fault insurer instead of your own. When the other party is responsible, nothing goes through your policy, so your no-claims discount and claims history stay protected.

Do I have to manage any of the paperwork or talk to the other driver?

No. We manage all the paperwork, negotiations, and communication. You don’t need to speak to the other driver or deal with their insurer at any point.

How do you handle it if the other driver lies about the accident?

We gather all available evidence — including photos, dashcam footage, witness statements, and police reports if available. We then build a strong case to prove liability and push back against any false information. Our experienced team is used to dealing with these situations and will fight to get the outcome you deserve.

Vehicle Recovery, Repairs & Replacement

Will you arrange recovery after the accident?

Yes. We will arrange collection of your vehicle and transport it to one of our approved bodyshops. We will also make sure you are taken to your original destination.

Who supplies the replacement vehicle?

The replacement vehicle is provided under a credit hire agreement. We aim to recover the hire charges from the at-fault insurer in eligible non-fault claims, but the customer remains responsible under the agreement in the limited circumstances explained in the Terms and Conditions.

How does a replacement car work if I’m at fault?

When you use one of our BS10125-approved repairers, we will provide a hire car until your vehicle is repaired. We aim to supply a similar class of vehicle, though an exact match is not always possible.

Will I get a replacement car?

We arrange a temporary replacement vehicle. While there is a cost for this service, you will not pay anything upfront. We cover the charges initially through credit hire and recover them from the at-fault insurer.

This is why we refer to it as a replacement vehicle rather than a courtesy car.

What kind of replacement car will I get and for how long?

You will receive a suitable like-for-like replacement wherever possible (same or very similar size and class to your own vehicle). We supply it for as long as your car is being repaired or until a settlement is reached if it is written off.

Do you offer electric replacement vehicles?

Yes. We will do our best to supply another electric vehicle so you can continue driving green.

Why do you follow the BS10125 repair standard?

BS 10125 is the recognised industry standard for collision repairs. It ensures the repaired vehicle meets manufacturer standards and is fully safe and roadworthy.

What kind of parts will be used for the repairs?

We only fit brand-new genuine manufacturer parts. This is different from many insurers who frequently use second-hand or recycled “green” parts.

Can I choose my own repair garage?

Yes, if it gives you peace of mind. However, if you are at fault and the garage is not in our approved network, we will not be able to provide a replacement vehicle.

Which repair centre will fix my vehicle?

Repairs are carried out at our approved BS 10125 bodyshops. We will try to select one close to your home where possible.

Is there a guarantee on the repair work?

Your approved Motor Claims Line repairer will provide a lifetime workmanship guarantee on the quality of the repair for as long as you own the vehicle.
